BRUISED STAR

In the twilight of yesterday,

I discovered a bruised star

struggling to fit in

amidst a myriad of determined moons and suns

and I did reach for it

but only bruised it further,

since I could not touch it

but nevertheless

awakened its yearning

What does it mean to be outshined

since galaxies are vast,

and where one star fades

another is king?

I can only guess

since I cannot wish upon this one chosen star

it seems determined to shy away

from even the most inconsistent of dreamers...

if it had not been for the twilight of today

which was also the twilight of some tomorrow

yes, that star is not the first

or the last

To feel

hurt the way it does

like in the twilight of tomorrow

which will become the twilight of today

thus the twilight of yesterday

will it perpetuate like time

unless death seeks it's time

with that little star

the bruising will end

the hurting will end

thus also the neverending comparison
