africa has drifted away from its roots and coz of that i was inspired to write this piece.

...................................................................................................

Africa...Dancing off beat to the rythm

My eyes are yet to heal

From the things i have seen.

Africa i wrote this poem,

Coz you dancing off beat to the rythm

Commonalities of humanity,

Have been overshadowed by the realities of our own indecency.

The livelyhood of the existence of our leaders,

Now only being clearly understood by the readers,

Our own people being crucified by our own soldiers.

bBacks living a tale never to be told.

Africa i love your dance,

But not in this sence,

Coz you dancincing off beat to the rythm.

The casualties of poverty,

Have yet to be seen as nothing but reality.

Our finest democracies transformed to plutocracies,

Self-made prophets falsely prophesising the prophesies,

Of mothers living in a fantasy,

Of a land of milk and honey.

All this has shamed me and im sorry,

But africa........

Hear the sceams of your people crying out to be heard,

Feel the weak heart beat of your children lost in the sand,

Move your feet to the tune of the band,

Dance not awkwardly to the rythm of the beat.

This piece feels especially relevant at the moment, what with the blind attacks and killings going on in Gauteng... Just the thought of it gets my jaw locked.

Africans' pride and joy is music, and in turn rhythm, so i love the concept you've used to convey this very important message. we're not living right.

This piece kinda summarizes some of the pieces that i have read in this forum about Africa, hunger and such related issues. Africans are well known to be good at following a rhythm, and the westerns are mostly known to be the opposite. Now dancing offbeat can merely be interpreted as adopting the Western way of dancing and forgetting the Africa's own. Hope that makes sense...

Ill Mind welcome to AHH. great piece. I really love it. it expresses a deep love and care for Africa but also anger and sadness for the way things are going wrong. It's kinda like u say: look at this wonderful continent and first see it for the real art is truly is. now take a closer look at the mozaic and discover all the things wrong with it. this is one of my fav poems that have been posted here lately. looking forward to more of ur work

This poem touches me deeply I guess is what the people need

to know so they can learn and make themselves better, leave

the war to those who are at war with themselves and stand

up to what you believe in. I haven't lived in Africa since my

grandfather passed away but here in Philadelphia I see that

they are fighting a pointless war. The president here seems to be inexperienced and just doesn't know what he's doing. I wish you guys peace....
