OJB is a household name in the 9ja music industry… he is one of the best (if not the best) producer and song writer in 9ja. He has produced Nigerians finest Artist from the likes of Rugged Man, Tuface, Paul Play, Jazzman, Wired Mc, Faze, Sound Sultan, Azadus, Plantashun Boiz, Charly Boy… the list goes on n’ on.

He has also produced for himself, having 3 albums to his credit though the first album “Deep Light” produced in 1999 wasn’t too successful. So far his second & third album “Jah’s my Lite & No Drama” has been very successful in terms of production, with lil’ sells… but I feel he should be doing much better financially like other big cats such as Paul Play, Rugged Man, Tuface, D’Banj etc… why is he not really successful in terms of sells? Does it mean that he barely has time to promote his own album and shot good quality videos or the problem lies on the part of his marketers? Or does it mean that Nigerians are not really ready for his kind of style n’ r not feeling his songs?… hum! Guys help me out, what do u think of this producer, song writer and artist? Am madly in love with his music, but really want to know why he is not really, really successful considering his role in the Nigerian music industry…

Well all I can say is that.....it's a mystery that's difficult to unveil for now.....but all the same Ojb a.k.a JIGGA is still one of Nigerian's most talented vocalist, song writter and producer even if he is trying to sound like R-kelly in some of his own songs.

Well I don't think this Jigga Man is ready to promote his album and perform in concerts, I could recall one of the News Paper ( Sun Newspaper) interview I read he said "You attain a stage in life and you have a bigger vision for yourself and your work. My vision is beyond coming on stage and doing yo-yo-yo. I’m aiming higher and higher in my career. I have a vision to perform for people who really love music." Who is this people he is referring to? There has been series of shows and concert here in the country but you 'll hardly see him perform, apart from the previous ones Kennis Music organised.

He also blamed Kennis Music in the interview on the poor sells and distribution of his debut album "The only thing I heard was that my debut effort sold about 50,000 copies and the album is still new in the market. I felt bad because I was expecting that the album should have sold like one million copies on a good day because I know I’m capable."

I think he really needs to settle down and promote his album and, get a better marketer.

For sure he is and for the very first time i i listen to his track i really thought he was R.kelly but latter i discovered he was our own son.Thats a great achievement for the Nigerian Hip-Hop Community and for Kennis Music,I dont know what they're really doing over there.Their system is really pissing.

I really don't understand Kennis Music strategies for marketing and promoting their artist... Seems like, they just pick one of them at a time and start promoting... check out d dayz of Idris Abdulkareem, he was like the only artist on Kennis Music label... Sometimes, these artist have lil' or nothing to do for themselves....

So for OJB r we concluding that, his lack of proper promotion n' sales is to be blamed on Kennis Music?

I think OJB is publicity shy. He's such a big name in the industry yet we see next to nothing about him in the media. He should be out there hogging the spotlight in anyway he can. He needs to arrange to be interviewed by any magazine he can get, he needs to scream at the top of his voice about his involvement with the biggest and most successful artistes in Naija, he needs to rethink his marketing of his current work "No Drama" which is a great album but hellishly difficult to find in the market and he needs to define his genre. I was under the impression (i don't know why) that he was a gospel kinda guy, until i heard a skit on "No Drama" by Shyla, a porn movie star. Hello? What's with that?

Zizmo, to a great extent I agree with u... I think OJB is publicity shy n has refuse to recognize the fact that the media has a role to play in making him become a well known cat in d 9ja muzik industry n Africa as a whole. I also think d guy is tryin his hands on all muzik genre... combining Rn'B, Hiphop, Rap n Gospel muzik 2gether... probably to have something for all class of muzik lovers. His previews album was like dat too.

Ojb obviously is a good producer, but one of the problems with the nigerian music scene is that, once u can produce, that automatically qualifies u as an artist; this notion is wrong. pple who produce should stick with producing and let the ones who are the artistes do their thing. OJb is not a very good vocalist, but producer? yes. thats my opinion.
