I recall her as a young being

quiet and peaceful before the tear gas scene

before children working home from school with green leaves

before the days WAI forced her children to seek peace

before it snowed in Atlanta

before vendors sold pure water

before chaos loomed her cities

before her people felt no pity

before religion, rules and regulations

before military rule and corruption

before the falcons and eagles was a team

before the cup of nations, the gold and gleam

before all that was destined to unfold

I recall Nigeria, my nation to behold
